28th June, London, UK – Today, Britton Management Profiles, Canada’s first background screening company, has partnered with digital identity company Yoti to streamline and strengthen pre-employment identity checks.

Britton Management has been trusted by global companies for over 48 years. They complete a number of background screening checks on a global level – from references, employment verifications, criminal background checks and identity verification on a global level.

Historically, identity checks were completed by physically inspecting identity documents. But during the Covid pandemic, organisations had to pivot and find new ways to verify the identity of candidates.

Britton Management has integrated Yoti’s Identity Verification technology into its platform to streamline pre-employment identity checks. Candidates are guided through an online journey where they upload their identity document and a verified selfie. Yoti verifies the authenticity of each identity document – improving the security and reliability of pre-employment checks – and matches the selfie with the photo on the document to confirm it is the same person.

Digital identity checks support long-term post-pandemic working practices, such as remote or hybrid working, accelerate onboarding processes and reduce recruitment times.

Marty Britton, President and CEO at Britton Management said, “As the ambassador to the background screening industry, the team at Britton Management Profiles is delighted to partner with Yoti for our Identity Verification checks. For close to 50 years we have ensured our clients know who they are hiring. This new service offering will continue to guarantee our clients make great hires.”

John Abbott, Chief Commercial Officer at Yoti said, “We’re pleased to be working with Britton Management to improve, streamline and strengthen the way pre-employment checks are carried out. Digital identity checks offer benefits to candidates and employers. They are quicker, more convenient, and support remote working practices – which have become the norm for many. With less paperwork, stronger security and a better recruitment experience, the benefits of digital identity verification are clear.”

Notes to editors

In the UK, Yoti and their partner Post Office became the first government-certified Identity Services Provider (IDSP) in May 2022, under the UK Digital Identity & Attributes Trust Framework, for Right to Work, Right to Rent and criminal records checks. Employers can now use a certified IDSP to digitise their ID checking process. This represents a significant shift in policy toward digital identity as a valid form of proof of identity, greatly improving compliance processes in a digital world.

Yoti is an active member of DIACC, and contributes to the development of the Pan Canadian Trust Framework (“PCTF”).
