The Royal Voluntary Service (RVS) has launched GoVo, a free-to-use digital volunteering platform, which aims to revolutionise the recruitment of volunteers to opportunities from UK charities by bringing volunteering opportunities from charities across the UK into one easy place. It is designed to make it easier than ever to get involved in volunteering and give back.

We’ve partnered with RVS to help them create trusted communities within the GoVo platform. Many volunteering opportunities can involve working with the vulnerable, the young, the elderly, or otherwise in-need communities. A vital aspect of this is safeguarding both volunteers and those beneficiaries receiving assistance. That’s why we’re working together with RVS to help verify volunteers, quickly and securely.

Signing up is simple. Prospective volunteers are invited to create a free, private and reusable ID, using  either a Yoti ID, Lloyds Bank Smart ID or Post Office EasyID. In just a few minutes, volunteers can get verified, allowing them to prove who they are and gain access to thousands of opportunities supported by leading UK charities.

One of RVS’s ambitions for GoVo is to make volunteering more flexible and remove barriers, in the hope of welcoming more young people and people of working age into volunteering. This partnership with Yoti is the first step towards a wider ability for verified volunteers to gain access to a wealth of opportunities and experiences, all through the latest digital interface.

Volunteers have the opportunity to get involved with charities including The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, The Scout Association, National Trust, Marie Curie, The Evelyn Glennie Foundation and SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity.

John Abbott, Strategic and Social Purpose Partnerships at Yoti says, “Our partnership with the Royal Voluntary Service is a powerful example of how digital identity can support safer, more inclusive volunteering communities. Verifying volunteers not only protects those receiving support, but also ensures that volunteers themselves feel confident and secure in the roles they take on. By making identity verification fast, private and reusable, we’re helping remove barriers to volunteering, so more people can give back with peace of mind. We hope this simple, secure process will encourage more people, especially young people and those balancing busy lives, to get involved and make a real difference.”

Yoti completes 1 billion age checks - and counting!

We’re celebrating a huge moment in our journey: Yoti has now completed over 1 billion age checks! When we started out, we had a simple but powerful ambition: to help people prove their age without revealing their full identity. We recognised early on that not everyone has access to a document or always feels comfortable using it. That’s why we innovated and developed facial age estimation. Reaching this milestone – across facial age estimation, Digital IDs, identity document checks and our other secure age-checking methods – shows that our technology is being used safely and responsibly around the
