6 million digital ID app downloads in the UK

We’re excited to share that our Digital ID apps have now been downloaded over six million times in the UK! 🎉

A huge thank you to everyone who has chosen one of our Digital ID apps – Yoti ID, Post Office EasyID and Lloyds Bank Smart ID. Whether you’re proving your age or identity, swapping verified details with others, or taking more control over your personal data, our Digital IDs are helping millions of people prove who they are.

Privacy-preserving age checks

You will probably notice that you’re being asked to prove your age more often online. This could be when you’re signing up for new streaming services, buying something online, making a new social media account or trying to access adult content.

As age checks become increasingly common, more people are using our privacy-preserving Digital ID to prove their age online. With just one setup, you have a secure, reusable way to confirm your age across multiple websites. Instead of sharing your full identity, you’ll only share what’s needed — such as confirming you’re over 18. It’s a fast, free, simple, and private way to pass online age checks.

We’re proud to provide privacy-first age solutions – because online safety shouldn’t come at the cost of privacy.

Looking ahead

And there’s even more exciting things to come. Later this year, you should be able to use a Digital ID to buy alcohol – in supermarkets, bars, clubs and other licensed venues. This is a major milestone – one that will drive even more adoption of Digital IDs.

At our current growth rate of around 150,000 downloads a month, we’ll be on track to hit seven million downloads by the end of this year. With Digital IDs becoming more useful by the day, and more businesses accepting them, we’re expecting to hit 10 million downloads before the end of 2026.

Whether you’ve been with us since the beginning or you’re new to the Digital ID world, thank you for choosing us. We can’t wait for what’s next!

To get your Digital ID, download it from the App store or Google Play.

Deepfake attacks: Rising fraud trends and our experience in preventing them

In 2024, we witnessed a significant increase in the number of deepfake attacks, or injection attacks during age and identity verification checks. The percentage of attacks increased from 1.6% to 3.9%. In absolute terms, this is a significant rise in the total number of attacks we have detected as we significantly expanded our services in 2024. We now perform over 5 million checks per week across all our services. With the introduction of various regulations globally, companies have been obliged to implement more robust age or identity checks for their users.  We have seen injection attacks across identity verification

Yoti responds to Ofcom’s final guidance on highly effective age assurance for Part 5 pornography providers

Ofcom has published the final guidance on highly effective age assurance for (Part 5) providers of pornography, under the Online Safety Act. There are a lot of good principles and effective guidance to ensure children are protected online and there is a clear deadline of July 2025 for all sites (be that pornography sites or social media platforms which allow pornography) to have age verification in place to prevent children from accessing adult content. We are pleased to see that Ofcom has listed several popular age assurance methods, such as facial age estimation, Digital ID wallets, and document verification,
