Global Age Assurance Summit – Manchester – April 16, 2026 – Digital identity companies Yoti and Luciditi have successfully demonstrated how interoperable digital identity solutions can enable secure, privacy-preserving proof of age for alcohol sales across the UK market. The collaboration shows how different providers can work together seamlessly, giving businesses flexibility and consumers more choice, with both companies certified under the UK Digital Verification Services Trust Framework, aligning with trusted UK standards. This interoperability extends across the network, including Yoti ID, Post Office EasyID and Luciditi, which are all designed to work together.

In a live demonstration at the Global Age Assurance Summit in Manchester, Yoti’s Digital ID Connect ID Checker successfully verified a Proof of Age credential issued by Luciditi, highlighting real-world interoperability between independent providers.

How it works in a live retail setting

Customers simply present their proof of age on their smartphone via a QR code. There is no need for them to be online, as the liveness detection and selfie matching are carried out on the customer’s device to protect their privacy. This means no biometric special category data is transferred from the alcohol buyer’s phone. The buyer’s facial image is not sent to the ID Checker app (and consequently the business), as the age credential’s biometric binding is performed on the device.

Robin Tombs, CEO at Yoti said, “With businesses only receiving a simple confirmation of age, staff are no longer required to visually match a customer’s face to an ID image – keeping customer details such as date of birth and address private and secure. It also helps to reduce friction at the point of purchase, minimising the potential for confrontation – an ongoing challenge in age-restricted sales.”

Ian Moody, CEO and co-founder at Luciditi said, “With age checks a daily requirement for retailers and hospitality venues, today’s demonstration shows how interoperable Digital IDs can streamline operations while building consumer trust. ID Checker is available now in major app stores, enabling immediate adoption across the UK.”

Yoti’s response to AEPD sanctions and fine

Yoti is extremely disappointed to confirm that we have recently been sanctioned by the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD) for infringements of data protection law relating to the Yoti Digital ID app. Yoti rejects in the strongest possible terms the decision of the AEPD and has begun the appeal process to the Spanish High Court. Importantly, we can reassure our Digital ID app users and clients that no personal data of any app user has been breached or compromised in any way – the Yoti Digital ID app remains secure. We also want to make clear that the findings
