This Friday, Yoti partners with NME, Jagermeister and hot new bands The Night Café and Wild Front to host an exclusive gig. The event follows Thursday’s official Yoti launch and aims to send a (loud) message to ticket touts: your time is up.
Music to real fans’ ears
At Yoti, we want to reinvent the way we prove identities. We want to make carrying around paper identification to get into gigs a thing of the past. This Friday, we’re doing exactly that.
Hundreds of music lovers will arrive at Victoria House in Holborn, London, and use their Yoti app to verify their identity for free entry to the gig, prove their age and pour themselves a pint or two at our self-serve beer pumps – using just their phones. Exciting young four piece, Wild Front, and Liverpool exports, The Night Café, will provide the live music.
Curtains for ticket touts
Yoti doesn’t just make lives simpler for fans on the night of the gig – it helps put control back in their hands when it comes to buying tickets.
In 2015 alone, £5.2m was lost to ticket fraud (Get Safe Online, 2016). Bots and the ticket touts that use them are snapping up large volumes of tickets to gigs and events and then selling them on at considerable profit. As a result, real fans struggle to get tickets to see the artists they love, or they have to shell out for tickets at extortionate resale prices – if they can afford them at all.
That’s all about to change. When ticketing websites integrate with Yoti, they shut out the bots and the touts. How? By allocating a verified, digital identity to every single ticket bought. Anyone wishing to buy one or a selection of tickets will need a Yoti to make the purchase. Thursday’s official Yoti launch
Thursday’s launch event, Digital Identities in the Real World, invites journalists, politicians, business leaders, staff and staff friends and family to experience firsthand how Yoti can be used in daily life.
They can prove their age and grab a beer at the Yoti Supermarket self-checkout. They can take part in interactive peer to peer online dating and buying and selling experiences – seeing for themselves how verifying identity details with Yoti can make for safer online interactions. There will also be live demonstrations of Yoti products like Yoti Sign and Yoti Connections.
Three years in the making
It was three years ago that three UK tech entrepreneurs set out to create the world’s trusted identity platform. Since then, Robin, Noel and Duncan have invested more than £20m into getting Yoti to Thursday’s launch.
A team of more than 160 people work for Yoti today. We have headquarters in London, an office in India and a growing presence in the USA. To date, the app has been downloaded by 150,000 people from all over the world during its beta phase.
